Is The Altenheim part of a national chain or corporation?
The Altenheim is a nonprofit private corporation managed by a volunteer board of directors from the Louisville area along with a licensed nursing home administrator.

Does The Altenheim have an initial application fee? 
There are no application or move in fees

Does The Altenheim have any additional charges that we need to be aware of?
There are charges for medical and incontinent supplies, medications and treatments (billed to Medicare Part D plans).

Can The Altenheim meet the needs of persons with Alzheimer’s or dementia?
The facility has a secure unit for those residents with these diagnoses.  We also offer therapeutic activity programs to promote independence and enhance cognitive function through recreation and entertainment.

Are medications administered by qualified staff?
All medications are administered under the supervision of Registered Nurses.  We have registered nurses and licensed nurses on duty 24 hours a day; 7 days a week.

Does The Altenheim offer therapies?
The Altenheim offers physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy, most are billable to Medicare Part B and supplemental policies regardless of level of care.

Does The Altenheim offer activities?
The Altenheim has a vast array of recreational activities to meet our residents’ individual recreational, social and spiritual needs.  We have many outings in the community utilizing our bus with wheelchair accommodations.  We also have a growing number of volunteer groups who offer a variety of programs for our residents.

Does The Altenheim offer cable TV and Wi-Fi?
The Altenheim does provide basic cable and Wi-Fi.  We also have a computer available for resident use. In the nursing facility we provide a wall mounted TV.
